It was a welcome sight to have former NBA reporter and writer Olivier Pheulphin joining on a podcast to discuss the playoffs.. We recorded the episode in the morning of August 26th and we were wanting to breakdown the first round so far and look ahead a little. We discussed a lot of great aspects of the games and performances that have happened so far. We obviously talked about Luka Doncic, Donavan Mitchell, Lebron James and other epic performances.
There was unfortunately a shadow being cast on the league because of the police shooting in Kenosha, Wisconsin. There was a few statements from the Toronto Raptors players that speculated on the possibility of a boycott of their game coming up on Thursday. In the following hours of our conversation the Milwaukee Bucks refused to take the floor leading to the postponement of their game against Orlando. This eventually led to the postponement of all of the scheduled NBA games on Wednesday August 26th.
Please listen to our takes and opinions of the playoffs so far and our look ahead but realize this was recorded before the protests and postponements.
Thank you Olivier for your great insight and valuable opinions.

What an amazing time to have Olivier Pheulpin join us to discuss the massive news of Lionel Messi asking Barcelona to let him leave the only club he has ever known.
The huge news of Messi wanting to leave Barcelona shocked the soccer world and the entire sports world and it created a firestorm of speculation on where he might end up. I asked Olivier if he could give us the scoop of the century and let us know if Messi was going to Juventus but no such luck. If you are a regular viewer of Complete Sports Media then you know that Olivier is the Technical director of the Juventus soccer academy in San Antonio, Texas. He is a life long football guy (soccer in North America) originally from France. He really gave us some amazing insight into this Messi situation and unprecedented potential or inevitable move from Barcelona. Messi started with Barcelona at 13 years old with their football Academy. He joined to the top club in 2006 and has went on to become one of the greatest players ever in history. After being embarassed 8 to 2 in the Champions league semi-final at the hands of Bayern Munich it seemed like the issues and difficulties proved to be irreparable. Messi has been having troubles with the Barcelona front office and this seemed to also lead to this acrimonious split. This is going to be exciting to follow and we will address it as soon as we get word on the direction this story takes.
Thank you Olivier for your great insight and valuable opinions.

What an amazing time to have Olivier Pheulpin join us to discuss the massive news of Lionel Messi asking Barcelona to let him leave the only club he has ever known. Also in this podcast episode we discussed the NBA playoff basketball. We were recording as the NBA was trying to decide if they are going to boycott games to protest the shooting of Jacob Blake. We are so emotional over the tragedy that happened this week and this was another unprecedented day in the world of sports and I am glad that we are having these conversations!

We welcomed Jason Cameron in to our podcast to have a discussion on the NBA. This day ended up being designated Mamba day because the date is 08/24 the two numbers that Kobe Bryant wore for the LA Lakers. There was a lot of tributes for Kobe and his daughter Gigi and the others who tragically lost their lives in that helicopter crash January 26th of 2020. The Lakers wore special throwback uniforms for their game against Portland today. There was a lot of amazing videos and comments from the NBA world today.
We then discussed the unbelievable and shocking police shooting of Jacob Blake that happened in Kenosha, Wisconsin. This city is just outside of Milwaukee and has been put on the map again for all the wrong reasons. The released video of the incident is tragic and sickening to watch but these videos are necessary to stop the police brutality and violence. It was really emotionally draining and hard to discuss but we are glad we talked about it to shed more light on it.
Our focus then turned to the action on the court and the great NBA week of the playoffs that we were just witness to. Enjoy the breakdown and all the details that we discussed.

The UFC Vegas 7 card was beset with numerous pullouts and cancellations and eventually there were only nine fights on the card. We welcomed Jason Cameron into our podcast to breakdown the card. We were treated to great takes as usual and it was very insightful.
The Fight Night was headlined by Frankie Edgar vs Pedro Munhoz as Frankie finally moved down to bantamweight for the first time. The UFC has constantly asked Edgar to fight at the 135 lb limit as it seems to be a more natural fit for his body. Edgar and his camp always refused to fight in the bantamweight division and it was hard to argue as he has carved out a Hall of Fame career at featherweight and lightweight. He is a former Champion at lightweight and now after Saturday nights split decision victory he is a winner in three different weight classes. The list of guys that have been able to get wins in three different divisions is a select few highlighted by Conor McGregor, Anthony Pettis, Diego Sanchez, Vitor Belfort and Kenny Florian. The main event was a razor thin decision and as close as they come to a draw. This fight was very difficult to judge and both fghters put on a very good display of high level MMA and both received praise for their efforts.
This card also had the biggest upset in UFC history according to the odds makers. There were some incredible and unexpected comebacks and unforgettable moments that ended up making this truncated 9 fight card one memorable UFC night.
Enjoy the breakdown and discussion from one of our favorite people on the planet Jason Cameron.

Complete Sports Media welcomed back Dale Cory into our podcast forum to discuss the NHL playoffs. This breakdown comes just as we have started the second round of the NHL playoffs.
The Vancouver Canucks had a crushing 5 to nothing beat down at the hands of the Las Vegas Golden Knights in game one. This was definitely not the way the Canucks faithful wanted the series to start but they were exposed for their shortcomings and played their worst game of the playoffs. This is only one game so it is definitely not time to panic but they must turn in a much better game two to give hope and confidence to themselves and their fans. The Canucks young guns Bo Horvat, Elias Petterson, Brock Boeser and Quinn Hughes all struggled mightily in game one. The Canucks MVP of the season and playoffs Jacob Markstrom also seemed to really be fighting the puck and wasn't positionally strong in the Canucks net. The entire team needs to put forth a better effort in the next game and series. Coach Travis Green needs to put a game plan in place and make a series of this one.
We spoke about all of the other series as the top eight NHL teams are still alive and fighting for the Stanley Cup. Enjoy the breakdown.

This was a great PGA breakdown of the first leg of the Fedex Cup playoffs at the Northern Trust Open.
Dustin Johnson dominated in incredible fashion as he shot thirty under par to win by 11 shots. He shot a second round 60 and kept pouring the ball into the hole the entire weekend to take over the world #1 and Fedex Cup #1 position heading into the BMW Championship next weekend. It was a masterful performance that hasn't been seen in over a decade where he practically lapped the field. We dove into his tournament and the zone he seemed to be in.
The other players that were playing for second place ended up being beat by Harris English who is also playing great golf these days.
The unfortunate part of the playoffs is that only the top 70 players make it to the second leg and that led to Phil Mickelson getting knocked out. That however will lead him to tee it up on the Champions tour for the over 50 crowd. Phil turned 50 in June and will head to the Ozark national and being the heavy betting favorite to win in his debut.
We also mentioned the shocking win by Sophia Popov who was ranked 304th in the world as she headed into this past weekends Womens Open Championship win. The event was held at Royal Troon and she beat the field by two strokes. No one has ever won a major with a lower ranking it was a truly epic performance.

We had a very fun and entertaining breakdown with Stephane Cappellini of the UFC Fight Night Edgar vs Munhoz.
Stephane always has great takes and insight into the UFC cards. This was a shortened fight card with only 9 fights but featured the biggest upset in UFC history according to the oddsmakers plus a lot of great action. The main event lived up to its billing as the Bantamweight debut of future hall of famer Frankie "The Answer " Edgar who won a split decision over # 5 ranked Bantamweight Pedro Munhoz. Pedro had a good game plan early as he employed relentless calf kicks and very hard punches. Edgar eventually just landed many more punches in bunches as his combos were non stop. Edgar the former lightweight champ was now into his third different weight class and still has the great footwork. There are really a select few that have won in three different UFC weight classes like Conor McGregor, Anthony Pettis, Vitor Belfort, Diego Sanchez Kenny Florian and a few others. This fight received fight of the night and the UFC handed 50K to each of the fightters on top of their purse.
We broke down almost every fight on the card higlighted by Shana Dobson beating highly touted Mariya Agipova and when her hand was raised it culminated in the biggest upset in UFC history. Agipova had a spectacular performance against Hannah Cifers on June 13th winning by submission and raising her record to 9-1. Shana Dobson came into this fight with a losing 3-4 record but turned the tables on Agipova in the second round and was given a TKO victory at 1:38. Dobson changed her life with a 50K bonus cheque and a UFC contract.
The fight between Daniel Rogriguez and Dwight Grant ended up being one of the rounds of the year candidates. "The Body Snatcher" Grant had "D- Rod" in all sorts of trouble early and the referee almost stopped this fight on a few occasions. Rodriguez rebounded and KO grant in amazing fashion at 2:24 of the first round. Go and watch that fight online you will be glad that you did. It reminded us of the Pat Barry vs Cheick Kongo incredible comeback victory from years ago.
The other highlighted fight was another incredible comeback scrap as Trevin Jones got a unlikely knockout of Timur Valiev the fighter from Dagestan. Jones heard about the fight with three days notice and came in for his debut. Valiev dominated the first round and it looked badly one sided. In the second round Jones hit him with a devastating check left hook and knocked him down he quickly jumped on him and pounded him until the ref pulled him off. Jones was the other 50 K bonus winner and said look out when he has a proper and full camp.
This was a fun card and breakdown.
