Jason Cameron does such an excellent job at watching sports and breaking them down that he can help you absorb sports at the highest level.
We spent the first half of this podcast breaking down the second week of the NFL. The marquee game of the early schedule was the one point victory 40-39 as Dallas edged Atlanta. It was a nail biter that was an epic 20 point comeback by the Cowboys as they eventually recovered an onside kick that led to the winning field goal. Dak Prescott was huge throwing for 450 yards and 1 touchdown and running the ball 5 times for 3 touchdowns himself!!! We really got into talking about every game over the day and had a lot of fun discussing the matchups.
We broke down the NBA's conference finals in both the East and the West. We started with the series between the LA Lakers and the Denver Nuggets. The Lake show got first blood as they posted a big win in game one. It was a dominating win and all 12 guys on LA's roster scored in this game as there was plenty of garbage time. Denver can be excused as they would definitely have been tired as they had two 7 game series back to back. We will see if todays game turns out better for them. In the Eastern Conference they have already had three games. Miami is up two games to one after winning the first two. Boston got a huge lift as Gordon Hayward came back from injury and it seemed to give them that spark they needed. Jason Tatum was dominant in victory scoring 25 points, getting 14 rebounds and 8 assists. The Celtics also had Kemba Walker, Marcus Smart and Jaylen Brown all score 20 or more.
We then dissected the UFC Fight Night headlined by Colby Covington dominating Tyron Woodley. The fight was really a one sided affair as Woodley again failed to pull the trigger and was outstruck and out classed. The Co-Main event was a great fight but was marred by some eye pokes by Niko Price into the eyes of Donald Cowboy Cerrone. Price was deducted a point from the scorecards and that led to a majority draw. Khamzat Chimaev has taken the UFC by storm getting 3 victories in 66 days. The previous record was held by another guy on the same card Johnny Walker who got three wins in 105 days. Chimaev was supposedly facing much tougher competition in Gerald Meerschaert but knocked him out in 17 seconds. It has been an incredible two months and Khamzat looks on a meteoric rise up the ranks in the UFC. Johnny Walker got a knockout of his own at 2:43 of the first round. Enjoy the breakdown of a very entertaining 14 fight card.

A fantastic and fun breakdown of the NFL, NBA and UFC. We are so blessed to have this much sports to consume these days! The other part that is fun is that we get to break them down on this podcast platform! The year of 2020 has been horrible in so many regards but there has been a silver lining for us as the sports world has been providing us with so much entertainment.
Our conversation started with talk about the opening weekend of the NFL and all of the storylines that emerged. There were 5 Pro Bowl quarterbacks making their debut with new franchises and so light was shining on them to see how they would do. Tom Brady was not great but his replacement Cam Newton was. Tyrod Taylor played solidly in his Chargers debut in a win. Phillip Rivers who left the Chargers for the Indy Colts took a loss and so did Teddy Bridgewater with Carolina after leaving New Orleans. It was another great perfomance by long time Seahawk Russell Wilson who was incredibly accurate and was huge in victory. The breakdown of the league was very in depth and we covered many games and topics.
The NBA conference finals are set in the East as it will be Miami vs Boston which should be a great dogfight and memorable series. The Lakers have punched their ticket to the Western Finals with their five game dismantling of the Houston Rockets. The other spot in the final has yet to be decided as the Denver Nuggets have roared back from a three games to one deficit to force a seventh game against the LA Clippers. Denver have been amazingly resilient in this series and the playoffs as whole. They came back from three games to one down to Utah last round and won it in seven. We will see tomorrow who pulls out the big win. It shapes up to be Nikola Jokic against Kawhi Leonard for all of the marbles of this series!
We also discussed the UFC card that featured a great 5 round battle in the main event. Michelle Waterson took a great split decision victory over Angela Hill that was a phenomenal battle. Their was a lot of great finishes and decision wins and you should check out our breakdown.

We welcomed Dale Cory into our podcast to talk about a variety of sports.
The conversation started out discussing the Vancouver Canucks and how they staved off elimination in game 5. They heavily relied on their back up goalie Thatcher Demko who had not had a start in six months and had only played 8 minutes in the playoffs so far. Jacob Markstrom the Canucks MVP and #1 goalie was a surprise late scratch for that game and it led to Demko making his NHL playoff debut. Thatcher was the first goalie to win in his playoff debut since Jose Theodore with the Canadiens in 1997. The Canucks play game 6 tonight and must play a lot better to win and force a game 7. The Vegas Golden Knights outshot the Canucks 43 to 17 and have the majority of play in the Canucks zone in that last game.
We spoke about the big news of Steve Nash being hired to be the coach of the Brooklyn Nets. For those of you that don't know Steve Nash is a former 2 time MVP of the NBA and played 18 seasons in the association. He is a Canadian who grew up in Victoria, BC just like our host Darren Campbell. The Nets will be significantly better next season as they should have a healthy Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving among many others. There has been a lot of recent success of coaches coming in for their first head coaching job and hoisting the Larry OB that same year. Steve Kerr, Ty Lue and Nick Nurse all took over and won the title that initial season.
Our conversation then shifted to Tom Seaver the Hall of Fame pitcher who passed away on August 31st. Seaver played 20 seasons in MLB and won 311 games in his career and had his biggest success with the New York Mets. Dale is a Mets fan and Seaver was the reason and his all time favorite player. He had some great words to say about a great and legendary icon from the world of baseball.

This is a preview of the FedEx Cup Tour Championship being held at East lake this weekend. Casey and Darren brokedown the field that is only the top 30 in the FedEx Cup standings. This is an elite and incredible group of golfers teeeing it up Friday. Dustin Johnson who sits in first place starts a ten under par with a two shot lead over Jon Rahm. The rest of the golfers all will start with a stroke deficit based on their position. Justin Thomas starts in third place at seven under three shots behind the lead. the golfers in 26th to 30th place with start at even par 10 shots behind DJ. Ten strokes is not an insurmountable lead over four rounds of gold so everyone really has a legitimate shot at contending and maybe winning the $15 Million dollar first place cheque. Even if you finish in last place you still get $395 K to put into your bank account. so it was a great accomplishment just to make it here.
We went over our Draftkings picks and laid out many possible ways to play and our lineups. It really was a fun podcast episode that you should watch before the tournament. Remember it is a Friday through Monday tournament and finishes on Labor day. Please support our sponsors by going to our website and following the links to their sites. This was a really fun breakdown with Casey O'Donnell to discuss the second leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs.
The BMW Championship tournament was held at Olympia Fields in Chicago and it was a really tough course that had most players scrambling just to make pars. The winning score was -4 compared to last weeks win by Dustin Johnson at -30. Speaking of DJ the World # 1 and Fedex Cup # 1 was in the drivers seat early on in the final round as he started the day tied for the lead. He then proceeded to birdie 3 of the first four holes to give himself a cushion. There were other golfers who played solid golf and threatened the top of the leaderboard but it was the World # 2 Jon Rahm who emerged as the leader in the clubhouse at -4. DJ had to drain a 43 foot putt on the 72nd hole to force a playoff. The two of them went back to the 18th tee and played the last hole again. When they hit the green with their approach shots DJ looked to be in the much better position. When Jon Rahm read his putt and sent it on its way I don't think anyone expected it to go in but that is what happened. The 66 and 1/2 foot bomb won him the tournament as DJ wasn't able to match his shot.
With the top players in the world playing so well this bodes well for East Lake in Boston next week for the Tour Championship and the finale of the FedEx Cup playoffs. The top 30 made it into that tournament and should provide us with amazing golf starting on Friday with the Monday Labor Day finish. It was a real battle to get into the top 30 and Canadian Mackenzie Hughes just made it by sinking a tough five footer for par on his last hole of the tournament. Billy Horschel made it in thirtieth place after Canadian Corey Conners three putted from five feet to fall into a tie and give Horschel the spot by less than a point. All thirty now qualify for all of the majors and World Golf Championships and the Tournament of Champions.
The format now has Dustin Johnson starting the first day at 10 under par Jon Rahm will be in second at 8 under, Justin Thomas third at seven under par and so on. The players sitting in the 26th through 30th place will start at even par ten shots back of DJ.
It should lend to a very interesting tournament and have the golfers who are the best in the world currently battling it on for the top prize of $15 Million dollars and big paycheques for all with a purse of $60 Million.
Enjoy the golf

We started this episode speaking about how the professional leagues had all taken a hiatus late last week to address the social injustice concerns after the Jacob Blake shooting. We were happy to see the NBA take the lead and boycott games and then all of the other North American leagues following suit. The NBA Players Association and the NBA owners have agreed to establish a Social Justice Coalition with representatives from players, coaches and governors. This coalition will be focused on a broad range of issues, including increasing access to voting, promoting civic engagement and advocating for meaningful police and criminal justice reform.
We then discussed the unfortunate deaths this weekend of three individuals that had ties to the NBA and the sporting world.
We spoke of the shocking news that Chadwick Boseman had died after a 4 year battle with colon cancer. Chad was a huge NBA fan and had relationships with many in the league. He had played a lot of prominent roles like Jackie Robinson in 42, Ernie Davis NFL Hall of Famer in The Express, T'Challa in the Black Panther etc etc.
One of the other unfortunate passings this weekend was Clifford Robinson the 18 year veteran of the NBA. "Uncle Cliffy is best known for his time with the Portland Trail Blazers helping lead them to the NBA finals in 90 and 92.
Last but not least Lute Olson the long time Hall of Fame college basketball coach just passed away at 85 years old and is most remembered for his 25 year run as Head coach of the Arizona Wildcats. He took over a program at Arizona that was not very good and helped rise it to National prominence. They made 23 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances once he turned the program around. Dozens of NBA players have come from that program and we spoke about quite a few of them.
Our conversation ended up turning to discuss the on the court action as the first round was almost wrapped up and the second round was just starting .
