We had a lively discussion about the long weekend and the easing of restrictions starting tomorrow. This pandemic and constant messing with our lives and freedoms has taken its toll. It will be nice when life will feel much more normal again. We were on the heels of the opening weekend of NBA playoffs as all eight series got under way. We were excited to breakdown the opening games of every matchup. There were some upsets and tight games and it was fun to break them down. In NBA history in 7 game series the winner of the opening game has gone on to win 76% of the time so it has proven to be very important to get off to a good start.
The #1 seed in the west the Utah Jazz were upset by the #8 seed Memphis Grizzlies but the late scratch of Donavan Mitchell was tough on the Jazz. Even though the Phoenix Suns are the #2 seed in the West a lot of pundits predicted the #7 seed Lakers are going to win this series. So when the Suns won game one many were calling it an upset. The #3 seed Denver Nuggets lost to the #6 seed Portland Trailblazers as the guard matchup is so one sided for the Blazers as Jamal Murray will not play this postseason for Denver. Dallas Mavericks won as Luka Doncic had a 30 point triple double to lead the way for their mini upset in the #4 VS #5 Matchup they have against the LA Clippers .
In the East #1 is the Philadelphia 76ers who dominated the Washington Wizards with the great scoring from Tobias Harris and Joel Embid and great game from Ben Simmons. The amazing backcourt of Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal didn't have enough to overcome the depth of Philly. The Brooklyn Nets are the #2 seed and their big three of James Harden, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving scored or assisted on 98 of 104 total points in their victory over Boston. The #3 Milwaukee Bucks outlasted the Miami Heat in overtime. Both teams struggled to score but Kris Middleton was good and hit the winning bucket. Madison Square Garden was the host to a playoff game for the first time in years and it was rocking. Trae Young was electric and silenced the boisterous crowd with his winning shot in the final seconds as the Atlanta Hawks beat the New York Knicks. The playoffs continue and will be fun to watch.
The NFL had trade requests and news on some disgruntled QB's that we mentioned briefly.
The UFC held a Vegas 27 card and we had fun discussing the fights and breaking them down. The Main event was Rob Font facing Cody Garbrandt and it was a one sided match.

This podcast blanketed the weekend coverage of the UFC, NBA and the NFL draft.
We started with the UFC and the main event between top contenders for the Light Heavyweight division. Dominick Reyes was coming off two title fights as he lost a close decision to Jon Jones and was knocked out by Jan Blachowicz. He was initially the favorite as he faced a relative newcomer Jiri Prochazka who had only one UFC fight prior to this match. This turned out to be the fight of the night and was a war that Prochazka ended with a spinning elbow KO with 31 seconds left in the second round. This win gives him the next title shot against the winner or Jan Blachowicz and Glover Texeria scheduled for UFC 266 in September. The card was fun to watch and also enjoyable to breakdown.
The NBA is heading into its final weeks and the playoff picture is really taking shape. The top six teams in each conference will be waiting for the results of the play in tournament between places 7th through 10th place. With the playoffs just around the corner the games have taken on a level of importance and competiveness. We talked about some of the established stars and emerging talents from the association.
The NFL was showcased this weekend as they held their annual draft and it provided all 32 organizations with immmediate help. With the NFL typically players can contribute and play almost immediately because they are drafted after four years of college and are men. The other sports the prospects are kids and they need time to develop. It was fun to watch and see these teams and young men converge and see their lives change in an instant.

We had another great podcast episode with Jason Cameron who helped us breakdown the big UFC 261 card that had three title fights scheduled. This was a bit historic as it was the first time since Covid hit that they allowed full capacity of fans as they held the card in Jacksonville, Florida.
This card was incredibly stacked and had former champion Chris Weidman facing off against Uriah Hall. This didn't seem to be the fight we would focus on first but that changed. This was one of the most talked about fights after because Weidman suffered a horrific compound fracture of his leg only seconds into the battle. He threw a low kick to the leg of Hall and when Hall checked it Weidman's leg snapped on the impact. The strange and ironic part of this result was that in July of 2013 the exact same thing happened to his opponent Anderson "The Spider" Silva and handed Weidman the UFC Middleweight Championship Belt. We played a short clip from Weidman that he posted from his hospital bed as he tried to update his followers. We hope that he will make a full recovery and be able to get back to doing what he loves in 2022.
The card had three title fights on the night and was entertaining throughout. The main event pitted the Middleweight Champ Kamara Usman defending his belt against Jorge Masvidal for a second time. This was a dominating KO victory only 1 minute into the second round. In 50 pro fights "Game Bred" Masvidal had never been knocked out and hadn't been finished in 12 years. Usman will now be facing Coby Covington for a second time. In the first matchup Usman broke Coby's jaw and was dominant in victory.
In the Co-Main event Rose Namajunas upset the Champion of the womens Strawweight division Weili Zhang. "Thug" Rose threw a high head kick and dropped the champ and finished the fights with shots on the ground. Rose became the first woman to ever recapture the titler after losing it.
The other title fight on the card had womens Flyweight Champ the "Bullet" Valentina Shevchenko proved once again that she is the dominant fighter in this weight division. She rivals the G.O.A.T Amanda Nunes and is possibly setting herself up for a trilogy fight with Nunes.
The card had a lot of fun fights and we broke them down as usual.
Our conversation shifted to the NBA and we went through the latest news of the week.
The NFL draft happens this week and we just mentioned it briefly as it is starting to look like quarterbacks will be chosen with the first four picks for the first time in history.

This is a real treat to have this big guy as a guest for our sports podcast. Tanner ""The Bulldozer" Boser is a rising contender in the UFC Heavyweight division who has had 5 UFC fights. Tanner has a great and fun loving personality and we enjoyed our time with him. The UFC has scheduled a fight for June 5th for Boser against Illir Latifi the Swedish Heavyweight of Albanian descent.
We spent a lot of time getting to know Tanner and were able to find out a lot of great things about his life. We have mutual friends in the band ShoCore and we thank Corey White and the band for helping us make this podcast episode happen! A lot of people and especially Canadian Mixed Martial Arts fans have been seeing a huge progression in Tanner with his strength and conditioning and his career. He has now become more well known off two big Knockouts in a one month span in the UFC Heavyweight Division. He has some of the best footwork in the division and has lethal leg kicks. His candor and no nonsense way about him has endeared him and helped contribute to his increasing popularity. He has a mullet, long beard and is missing one of his front teeth and that seems to appeal to many fight fans. We found him gracious and forthcoming as he talked about his life, career and even tough topics. We hope that you enjoy his conversation with us and you become fans of his as much as we have.
There are a lot of stereotypes when it comes to Canadian's and Albertan's and he checks many of the good boxes when it comes to where he is from. He has led a typical life in some regards but luckily has had some great people in his life to help him achieve his goals and dreams. He started working at his Mother's gym and was able to start learning Jiujitsu and Karate at a very young age. He decided to leave his small home town of Bonnyville at 21 years of age to get more MMA training and opportunities. He has now travelled the world to countries like Russia, Kazakstan, South Korea, Australia, England, Abu Dhabi and Dubai and of course the US and Canada to fight and pursue his MMA career. His adventures and jouney have shaped his life and career and we are glad that he has emerged as a great contender and he is a big success story from Canada.
We wish Tanner all the best in the future and really appreciate his valuable time. Thanks for tuning in as always!

#Boxing #MMA #UFC #Fightnight
This episode started with a discussion about the latest boxing event put on by Triller Fight Club. It was really Tiger King for boxing and is giving the sport another black eye. This event had more rappers and music acts than fights. It featured at least two guys that have never had a professional boxing match in their life. The sport of boxing has had enough bad events and incidents that have started to relegate it to a fringe sport in North America. This could have been an all time low. Jake Paul has somehow garnered a huge follwing on social media and somehow convinced Triller to make him the main event. This entire night was strange, weird and really felt pathetic and embarrasing. None of us should have watched it and all of us wished we hadn't once it was done.
The UFC on the other hand had another good fight card and we brokedown it at length. The Main event had the middleweight title challenger eliminator between Robert "Reaper" Whitaker facing Kelvin Gastellum. It was a one sided battle as "Bobby Knuckles" put himself back into the title picture in the middleweight division. His next opponent should be Israel Adesanya the belt holder and this rematch will be a can't miss matchup. We made a big announcement that Tanner Boser the UFC Heavyweight contender would be a guest of the podcast next week. There were a lot of split decisions so close battles were the flavor of the evening. We had a lot of fun analysing the entire card from top to bottom.

#NHL #Tradedeadline #NBA #BLM #UFC #NFL
We talked about Canada's unofficial holiday "NHL Trade Deadline Day". We like all Canadians were up at the crack of 5:00 AM to catch the big news. It was a relatively quiet day with only reportedly 16 deals involving 28 players and 16 draft picks. Once we got back to sleep and dissected the deals later and discussed a couple of trades. This sport is not exactly Jason's expertise so we got into discussing many others.
We received word that all games involiving Minnesota teams were being postponed because of another police shooting of a black man. Duante Wright a 20 year old black man was killed by the Minneapolis police after a traffic stop. This put an already charged up city on high alert and has led to an imposed 23 hour curfew on three local counties. The high profile court case of Derek Chauvin the former police officer who killed George Floyd is in full swing and tensions have been rising as the testimony continued. This is yet another horrible tragedy and has brought up the Black Lives Matter movement and systemic racism debate back to the forefront.
We discussed the NBA and the Golden State Warriors at great length as Steph Curry is set to break a huge record.
We talked a little NCAA and the NFL to close out the episode.

#NCAA #MarchMadness #Gonzaga #Baylor #Stanford #Arizona #NBA #NFL #UFC
We capped a great Easter long weekend off with a great podcast episode breaking down the fantastic weekend of sports!
The most exciting moment of the weekend was the instant classic game in the NCAA college basketball semi final game between the Gonzaga Bulldogs and the UCLA Bruins. The score was close for the entire game with no team leading by more than six points. With the game in overtime UCLA hit a basket to tie it up at 90 with 3.3 seconds left when the ball was inbounded to Jalen Suggs. The Gonzaga guard ran down the floor and hoisted the ball up just past half and the ball banked off the glass and through the hoop to continue the undefeated season for the #1 team in the nation with the 93-90 victory. The shot propeled the Zags to the final against Baylor who has been the consensus #2 team in the nation this season. This has all the makings of an epic titanic battle for supremacy between the two best programs in 2021.
The womens NCAA basketball tournament was finished on Easter Sunday April 4th and was a huge ratings success. The final game featured the Stanford Cardinal facing the Arizona Wildcats and was another really close and tight battle right until the end. Stanford won the National Championship for the first time in 29 years with a 54 to 53 win that went down to the final seconds. This was a great and fun tournament and has greatly increased the popularity of the womens game with a lot of close games throughout.
The conversation switched to the NBA and we broke down a lot of the top stories that emerged over the last few days or week in the league.
We briefly mentioned the NFL and the big trade of Sam Darnold the Jets QB to the Carolina Panthers for three draft picks. This will open up New York to draft a top college QB in the draft #2 overall.
There was no UFC card this weekend but we looked ahead to next Saturdays card and the new addition of Kevin Holland replacing Darren Till in the main event against Marvin Vettori. The UFC has put together a trilogy fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier for July. The much anticpated announcement for Francis Ngannou's first title defense of his Heavyweight belt has hit some contract difficulites and has dominated the UFC news this week. The majority of fans and media are clamoring for a huge clash with Jon "Bones" Jones but has hit big snags because of compensation and lack of money offered to the challenger. Watch and listen to our takes on the negotiations.

#MLB #OpeningDay #NewYorkMets #BlueJays #BCHL #PentictonPod #NHL
This is a great fun episode done on opening day of MLB and the eve of the BCHL regular season.
We brokedown the league and got into detail of the game between the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays. The Jays took the opening game 3 to 2 in 10 innings. We showed some highlights and discussed the game and the season ahead for the two teams. Cory is a life long New York Mets fan and we went into the prospects of the team for the 2021 season. Francisco Lindor the Mets shortstop signed a 10 year $341 Million dollar contract on the eve of the season. It was the third largest money ever handed out and it was widely applauded by the baseball world. We discussed every division in both leagues and who are the probable front runners for the division titles and the wild card playoff spots.
We spent a lot of time breaking down the short abbreviated 20 game regular season schedule for the BC Hockey League. The league has put together 5 pods and will start these games starting April 2nd and will culminate in the end of the season in just over 5 weeks. Enjoy the discussion of the upcoming sprint to the playoffs.
