#Heatwave #NBA #Conferencefinals #EuroBasket #UFC
We are experiencing a heatwave locally and so we are just trying not to melt. Most are staying indoors and using fans and ice and sports to stay cool! We discussed our methods to keep cool and go without sleep and try and survive!
The conversation eventually got to the NBA playoffs and the Conference Finals. The third game between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Atlanta Hawks was last night. Atlanta was controlling the game until the late third and fourth. Ice Trae Young tweaked his ankle as he stepped on the foot of the official standing behind him and left the game. The Bucks took advantage of the young leader and kept feeding Kris Middleton who was lethal and deadly. The Second banana of the Bucks outscored the Hawks himself 20 to 17 and contributed to a 25 to 7 run to win the game 113 to 102. The Bucks take a two games to one lead in the series and look poised to take a stranglehold on the series.
In the Western Conference final the Phoenix Suns are on the verge of securing a berth in the final for the first time since 1993. They employed some old school basketball winning a defensive grind out game 84 to 80 in game 4. Game 5 is tonight at 6 PM pacific and if the LA Clippers don't win this series is over as Phoenix is up three games to one. Kawhi Leonard has already been ruled out and he has been sorely missed. Ivica Zubac has been utilized a lot in this series and is questionable to play tonight. It seems very unlikely that the Clips will be able to completely stave off elimination.
We showed some highlights of the women's Euro Basket tournament and the big win for Serbia 63 to 54 over France. This was their second ever title but was an upset. Congratulations for winning a great tournament.
The UFC was in Vegas again and showcased the Heavyweight division. The Main event had top contenders Cyril Gane facing Alex "Drago " Volkov in a five round titanic battle. Gane was incredibly dominant and really was able to show his superiority inflicting damage and barely taking any himself. The Co-Main event had Canadian Tanner Boser facing Ovince St. Preux and had some unnecessary controversy. Boser was his usual fast moving and damaging self in the first round and won the round handily. The second round was going the same way as the first until OSP got a takedown. The fighters were scrambling for position when Boser reached his hand up the cage. His fist was closed but many thought he was grabbing the fence to pull himself up. The referee Jason Herzog momentarily approached the fighters to see if Tanner was utilizing an unfair advantage. He realized that it wasn't anything illegal and allowed the fight to continue uninterrupted. Boser was able to get back to his feet quite soon after and pressed the action. Tanner landed a knee and a shot to the side of OSP's head and dropped him and started smashing him as Herzog stepped in and stopped the bout this time. The camp for OSP is protesting the decision and want it to be called a no-contest. We will keep you posted as to a decision or ruling. There were a lot of other great fights broken down by Jason and Darren. Also they looked ahead to UFC 264 in tow weeks featuring the trilogy fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier.
