What an amazing time to have Olivier Pheulpin join us to discuss the massive news of Lionel Messi asking Barcelona to let him leave the only club he has ever known. Also in this podcast episode we discussed the NBA playoff basketball. We were recording as the NBA was trying to decide if they are going to boycott games to protest the shooting of Jacob Blake. We are so emotional over the tragedy that happened this week and this was another unprecedented day in the world of sports and I am glad that we are having these conversations!
The huge news of Messi wanting to leave Barcelona shocked the soccer world and the entire sports world and it created a firestorm of speculation on where he might end up. I asked Olivier if he could give us the scoop of the century and let us know if Messi was going to Juventus but no such luck. If you are a regular viewer of Complete Sports Media then you know that Olivier is the Technical director of the Juventus soccer academy in San Antonio, Texas. He is a life long football guy (soccer in North America) originally from France. He really gave us some amazing insight into this Messi situation and unprecedented potential or inevitable move from Barcelona. Messi started with Barcelona at 13 years old with their football Academy. He joined to the top club in 2006 and has went on to become one of the greatest players ever in history. After being embarassed 8 to 2 in the Champions league semi-final at the hands of Bayern Munich it seemed like the issues and difficulties proved to be irreparable. Messi has been having troubles with the Barcelona front office and this seemed to also lead to this acrimonious split.
When we shifted our conversation to the NBA we talked about a lot of great aspects of the games that have been coming in the playoffs. There was unfortunately a shadow being cast on the league because of the police shooting in Kenosha, Wisconsin. There was a few statements from the Toronto Raptors players that speculated on the possibility of a boycott of their game coming up on Thursday. In the following hours of our conversation the Milwaukee Bucks refused to take the floor leading to the postponement of their game against Orlando. This eventually led to the postponement of all of the scheduled NBA games on Wednesday August 26th. Please listen to our takes and opinions of the playoffs so far and our look ahead but realize this was recorded before the protests and postponements. Thank you Olivier for your great insight and valuable opinions. Please support our Partners and sponsors Anchor, Forerver Living and Verbero.
